Workspaces and ownership
Workspaces and ownership in Beyond.
A workspace separates one business environment’s clients, projects, time, documents, team and settings from another. One account can belong to several workspaces with different roles and plans.
Create or switch
Open the workspace switcher and select an existing workspace or New workspace. After switching, check its name before creating records or documents: actions apply to the active workspace. Owners and administrators change the name and icon in Settings → Business; the name, emoji and colour save together with the form. These identity settings do not travel in backups.
Frozen memberships appear unavailable. Switching cannot bypass a freeze, deletion or missing membership. If no accessible workspace remains, Beyond shows the no-workspace screen; your personal notification bell is still available.
Leave and transfer ownership
A participant can leave through the workspace leave action while their access is active. Leaving does not delete their account or other workspaces. The owner must first transfer ownership to an eligible active administrator: choose the recipient and confirm your current password. The recipient becomes Owner and the former owner becomes Admin. A frozen administrator is ineligible. See roles.
Delete a workspace
Only the current owner sees the danger zone in Business. Check the workspace, enter its exact saved name and confirm deletion. It immediately disappears from product lists and becomes unavailable to the team and MCP. Data, documents and files are retained for 30 days, then permanently removed. Repeating the request does not extend the deadline.
There is no self-service workspace restore button in the app; do not rely on one to undo deletion. Members’ personal accounts and other workspaces survive. Make a backup beforehand. Deleting the owner’s account is a separate process with account recovery.
