Charges

Charges in Beyond.

A charge adds a client amount without recording hours, such as an agreed extra service. It is not a project expense and does not increase hourly earnings. Owners and Admins manage charges on Starter, Pro and Business.

Create and find charges

  1. Open Charges, or the charges section of a client.
  2. Create a charge and select its client and calendar date.
  3. Enter a clear description, positive amount and currency; add optional notes.
  4. Save and check the list.

Filter the global list by client, dates and status: all, unbilled or invoiced. An invoice reference opens the related document. Before issue, a manual charge can be edited, duplicated or deleted. Editable fields include date, description, amount, currency and notes.

Include charges in an invoice

A draft includes eligible client charges dated on or before its period end, even when they predate its period start. Exclude individual positions in the draft if needed. Issue locks selected charges; only notes remain editable. Voiding releases them for a new invoice.

Charges contribute to unbilled amounts and invoice totals. Reports display them separately from time, and they do not increase hourly earnings, time-table totals or effective hourly rates. Internal project profitability excludes charges.

Payment shortfalls

Carrying a payment balance creates a special charge linked to the source invoice. Its date and currency remain fixed. Description, amount and notes may be corrected, but a carry-over cannot be duplicated.

Existing charges remain readable after downgrade. Creating, editing, deleting and duplicating require the paid feature and a writable workspace; retention does not preserve every action. Members cannot access workspace charges even when allowed to see money on their own time.
